The new marketing hub of Envoy Textiles Limited (ETL) embodies modern aesthetics and functional efficiency, creating an environment that encourages collaboration, innovation, and growth. Designed by Studio dot O in collaboration with Binyash, the office stands as a statement of ETL’s evolving vision – strengthening its presence in the international textile market while reinforcing its leadership in denim production.

Located in the upscale urban area of Gulshan 2 in the capital, the interior design of the office features a transparent workspace that reflects the global character of the garments industry. The design team comprised architects Ar. Rahat Niaz, Ar. Sudeshna S. Chowdhury, Ar. Nazila Mehnaz, and Ar. Shahariar Islam, along with engineers Engr. Golam Kibria and Engr. Jahidur Rifat, under the guidance of Envoy Textiles Chairman Kutubuddin Ahmed and Managing Director Tanvir Ahmed.

ETL places the highest value on the people it works with, striving to train, motivate, and empower employees to take on greater responsibilities, become outstanding performers, and conduct business with sincerity and integrity. Reflecting this philosophy, the client’s key design requirements for the office emphasized functionality, clarity, and comfort.

Spatial Planning and Functionality

The office workstations are arranged in linear layouts to improve communication and supervision, while dedicated meeting and collaboration zones were positioned to prevent disruption in focused work areas.  Adequate aisle widths, ergonomic furniture, and visual openness are incorporated throughout the office, promoting comfort, smooth circulation, and a productive work environment throughout the office.

The design also emphasized subtle integration of the company’s brand identity without excessive ornamentation, and the use of durable, low-maintenance finishes, to ensure both style and practicality throughout the workspace.

Balancing Aesthetics and Comfort

When asked how aesthetics was balanced with functionality, Sudeshna S. Chowdhury, principal architect of Studio dot O, explained that the layout remains open to encourage collaboration, while glass partitions define spaces without blocking natural light.

“Textures, colors, and lighting were carefully considered to shape the office atmosphere. Textures enhance comfort and help control noise, while neutral tones with blue accents create a calm, focused environment. Well-planned lighting keeps the space bright, balanced, and conducive to productivity.

A Neutral-toned flooring is selected for high-traffic areas and easy maintenance, while matte-finish workstations and soft fabric seating are selected to reduce glare and provide comfort. The ceilings are left exposed with acoustic panels to improve sound control while maintaining a modern aesthetic, and subtle metal and wood accents are incorporated to add warmth without overpowering the workspace”, the architect adds.

Sharing reflections on the project, Sudeshna S. Chowdhury notes that the design philosophy centered on translating ETL’s core values into spatial experience. For her, the office is more than a functional workplace – it is a reflection of the company’s commitment to integrity, innovation, and people.

This project embodies her and the team’s belief that good design should be practical, honest, and people-centric – prioritizing clarity in planning, simplicity in form, and long-term usability to create spaces that support both business operations and employee well-being.

Overcoming Design Challenges

The primary challenge during design and execution according to the design team was coordinating services within the exposed ceiling while maintaining a clean visual order. This was resolved through disciplined alignment of ducts, lighting, and cable trays. Another challenge was ensuring acoustic comfort in the open office.

Setting Eco-Friendly Practices

The Envoy Textiles Limited factory in Mymensingh spans 45 acres. It is the first denim factory in Bangladesh to use Rope Dyed Technology, it produces 4.5 million yards of fabric monthly and houses a backward-integrated spinning facility capable of 70 tons of yarn per day. Envoy operates sustainably, using responsibly sourced fibers, Ozone finishing, Aero Finish for durable stretch, an advanced Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) saving 100 million liters of water every year, and an E-Lab with eco-friendly Laser and Ozone Wash machines.

Reflecting this commitment to efficiency and sustainability, the design team emphasizes that modern office interiors should similarly prioritize flexibility in layout, proper ergonomics, efficient lighting and ventilation, and durable, low-maintenance materials – ensuring that both production facilities and workspaces support long-term performance and well-being.

ETL is recognized as one of Bangladesh’s largest denim manufacturers. It also holds the distinction of being the world’s first LEED-certified denim company, certified by the U.S. Green Building Council. The journey of Envoy Textiles Limited reached another milestone with the opening of its marketing office.

With its thoughtful spatial planning, and a harmonious balance of aesthetics and functionality, the office not only supports efficient business operations but also fosters an inspiring work environment.
